There's a local place (Lexington,Ky) that sells a bunch of insulated foam panels. They are 2" x 22" x 80" with fiberglass backing on either side. They can make, or I can buy panels and make a hunting blind out of them. One of their models doesn't have a wood floor...just panels. Are these panels really strong enough to support the weight of a person? Are they secure and dependable enough to make a hunting blind out of them WITHOUT a wood frame (2x4, runners, etc)?

There is a place in London that sells the insulation panels. And they use the panels to make those little buildings with

I wouldn't think they would b strong enough. Unless they were sitting on ground

Sorry for location mishap. This place (selling the paneling and blinds) is in Coxs Creek...right north of Bardstown. My main concern is if the paneling is strong enough to support a person / stand up to elements. Lady i spoke to sounded pretty nice, and their photos seem relatively decent / dependable.

I'm interested in purchasing some of these panels....

I'd really appreciate a PM with the name or phone number of the dealer so I can call them before driving over.

    Thanks,

While I doubt this stuff would be strong enough for the floor , there's no reason you couldn't build the walls out of it. Just stick build you're floor insulate and cover with carpet. Could even use these panels between the joist for insulation. I wouldn't mind buying some of these. If anyone around south central ky wants to go get a load Hollar at me. I'd be willing to split expenses to go pick up some.

I know someone with an outbuilding made from these that has had good results. I think it would make a good shooting house, but I would want a wooden floor. Their pre-built houses look good, you think it would be a lot cheaper to build it yourself?

Should be fine for walls and roof. Probably same material used in many of the pre-fabbed "3 season" sunrooms, etc. The foam panels are also starting to be used in many commercial/industrial settings that require insulation, such as dry kilns. Agree with the others, I would build a wooden floor.

I've been texting her back and forth. She said you need a wooden floor if it's elevated but on the ground you can use the panels. They also sell the trim to finish out the joints and connect the panels. I'm gonna go get enough to build one box blind and see what kind of cost I have in it. I plan to use the 80" panels 3 per side and 3 for the roof so I'll need 15 of the 80" panels at $8 each. Gonna put vertical windows in so I can bow hunt from it if I want.

I had about 4-500 in a 4x8 wood shooting house I built last season. I think the already built if they had a wood floor would be a good price. I need another shooting house but really dont have time to build one I may snatch one up and put a floor in it and get it up a few feet.
