Refer to the Diagram

Refer to the diagram to know the cuts you’ll need to make on the two 6-foot x 4-inch x 1-inch pieces of common board. Following the diagram can help minimize the waste of wood.

Measure and Mark the Wood

Using measuring tape, measure and mark cuts on the wood and according to the cut list. On the 10-3/4-inch pieces, mark one slot on each. Measure in 5 inches from each long side and mark a slot flush from one edge to the center of the board.

Tip: Cut pieces one at a time, then measure and mark the next piece off the remaining scrap to ensure that all pieces are the correct size.

Use a circular saw to make the cuts on the wood. For the slot, use a 3/4-inch drill bit for the hole and use a jig saw to connect the hole to the end to create the slot. Also use the jig saw to square off the end of the slots.

Tip: Use a sanding block to smooth any rough edges.

Use a paint brush to stain or paint the cut boards prior to assembly if desired. Allow stain or paint time to dry according to instructions before assembly.

Assemble the Drink Stand
  • On each of the 24-inch pieces mark two holes: one 6-1/2 inches and one 9 inches away from one end, centered.
  • Pre-drill using 1/8-in. drill bit.
  • Sandwich one 10-3/4-in. piece vertically between two 24-in. pieces with the slot facing up.
  • Secure with wood screws.
  • Repeat with the remaining pieces but face the slot the opposite way.
  • Slot pieces together to make stand.
Set up the Stand on the Patio

Once the stand is assembled, you can place it upright on your patio and use it to hold an ice bucket full of beverages.

Having a drink stand within arm’s reach provides a convenient way to cool off in your outdoor space.
